AVG free(who pays for it?)

This pc expert said to me the other day, all free AV's like AVG are great, but ask yourself who pays for it????

I paid for mine for a while too, dont dis paying!
( the thing I ended up paying for was NOrt antivirus 07 which sucks nehuz)

It's quite simple really.

Their business model is to offer a free version for personal use and get their name / brand known within the industry, in the hope that corporate and business clients will pay for the professional version.

Personally I don't know a single company using AVG for their company-wide protection, so how/if they're even making money is a mystery.

they make their money off ads
