Anti-Virus/Spyware/Rootkit

avg 8.0 and the newest version of avast include anti virus, anti rootkit & anti spyware. No need to DL AVG 8 + avg rootkit & spyware scanners anymore.

I'd still recommend having spybot as a backup for catching any spyware avg might miss (immunization feature is nice too) and A Squared is a good free scanner a lot of people don't know about, it doesn't have real time protection but does have good spyware/trojan detection rates and is free, with these 3 app's layered you will catch any major malware on your system as long as they are kept up to date.

Spyware Blaster, Spyware Terminator, AVG Antispy (until they discontinue updates as they're planning to do), Spybot, Ad-Aware, and Nod32 with Comodo firewall are what I use. Nod32 is the only paid one.
