which anti-virus is best?

HI,
I want to know which anti-virus is better for windows vista&7?
many of my friends said AVG or Antivir is better and enough for both.
last year i use kis 2009 but now validity period ended.
please suggest me.

I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials on all of my systems since it was released and have been very happy with it. I haven't seen any recent comparisons but at the time it was among the best av's available and did considerably better than the other free options.

It is a sticky topic at the top. Most forums on this site have stickies at the top. They contain information that is most commonly asked for. Like the best AV/Firewall in this area. Windows has some for Win7, BSoD, and so on. It is best to check the stickies in each forum for information or use the Search Feature to find out if the information your are looking for is already out there.

This is done to help out people that are new to the site. This way they dont have to create topics about stuff that is commonly asked. Such as this.

I will create a new thread in the New Member Area like the Welcome thread with such information to help out new members.
