strange thing is audio is fine if i minimize the window while it's still loading. If i try to see the video, then the video and audio skips around again. Also, it does this with both internet explorer and chrome so it doesn't seem to be a browser issue.

The screen is black, and the "bar" goes from like 0:01 to 0:10 constantly with the noise skipping around too. This has been going on for quite some time. Thanks for any suggestions.

some videos are fine though. especially ones uploaded by "normal people."
For example: http://www.youtube.com/user/mrfleurish... is fine

but 95% of all videos simply don't work for me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What system are you viewing the videos on? Laptop? PC? What are the specs of your machine?

I'd recommend updating your drivers. If you're unsure which are the right ones post up your motherboard model number and graphics card model number, or laptop model number if applicable.

I got this via BelArc Advisor. HOpefully this is sufficient.

and the youtube advertisements are fine, streaming from cnn.com, gamespot.com, etc... are fine as well... just youtube videos.

i can assure you internet speed is definitely not an issue. I have like 20mb+... got the fastest one available from charter comm. Can download multiple files over 1 or 2 mbps

If it was just slow, the bar wouldn't get filled up so fast. The red bar fills up REALLY fast, but the circle thing to indicate where you are in the video timeline skips around back and forth nonstop.

who knows, maybe the file size is consideration for other reasons. ??

already tried that for firefox and ie, and chrome simply states that it already has an internal one in its browser... doesn't work.

Tried updating your graphics driver? That was a problem on one of the laptops I had the other day. Apart from that, not sure what else to recommend if you've already tried different browsers. Hmmm...

Check what else is running on your rig. I have found that, when I am Folding (both CPU and GPU), YouTube skips pretty bad and especially on the HQ vids.

i don't think i have anything unusual running. just the usual, microsoft word, itunes, utorretn, browsers, etc...

like i said all other forms of streaming video works perfectly; it's STRICTLY youtube.

also, this laptop doesn't struggle with HD at all. I watch 1080p almost by default.

I know this isn't exactly a monster, but it's still a i7 quad core processor... even my old laptop didn't struggle at all with 1080p youtube videos.

It just started to happen last week for unknown reasons.

I updated the graphics driver to no avail. i also tried looking for viruses, trojans, etc.. but nothing noticeable pops up.

Dang it all
