yahoo/msn/firefox issues

HELP...
for some bizzarre reason, I cannot use or even install yahoo messenger. I have msn messenger installed but cannot login....cant login on a different yahoo client on the drive either.
the messages I get are maning "cannot connect to server"
now here is the deal, I connect to the internet via a dsl modem and wirelessG router. I also connect with my laptop the same way...but have full use of my messengers (weird)

I can browse just fine with Opera and IE...but not Firefox!!
Firefox works just fine on the laptop..
anyway..I am at my wits end on this...I have all ports forewarded properly....even tryed DMZ....no good...and I have tried socked fixed...no go.
reinstalling everything...no go....all updates from windows are current.....firewall is not an issue (uninstalled it)..and I use Kaspersky antivirus and spybot.....nothing found.
Hopefully someone has some insight

how bout trying to go right from the dsl modem in your computer that your having problems with.

kinda trouble shoot the problem from the start.

if you can connect find like that then there is something not configured right in your router.
