yahoo messenger question

im new here and wasnt sure which section to put this in but basically my problem is this, i recently had my whole computer reformatted and ive just been installing everything back on like msn messenger etc and i installed yahoo messenger agian, now for some reason it wont let me sign in, it says the following:-

"modem users(not me), make sure your online then try agian", and the it says, " lan/firewall users setup proxy if you know your settings."

Whys it saying that for, msn messenger works fine and so did yahoo before i reformatted my computer?

maybe they were just down at the time, try again.

i got the new version so i dont think its that, it just wont even attempt to connect!?

have you looked at the proxy settings inside yahoo options.

maybe they got switched on by mistake.

its on no proxy which according to yahoo is what it should be on for my connection type, but still no joy, like i said it used to work fine before i reformatted my computer and downloaded everything agian

were you using 6 before you formatted?

maybe give that a shot.

7 is still in beta so it might be some bug.
