Amazing! If you close your Yahoo email account, mail sent to that old address is NOT bounced back to sender for 90 days - it just disappears in a mail netherworld. It takes 90 days for Yahoo to start returning undeliverable messages to sender!

Does anyone know whether this delay is due to complexity of fully obliterating an email account (I find that hard to believe) or due to Yahoo wanting to discourage people from closing accounts?

Does anyone know whether gmail or hotmail are any better in this respect, i.e., whether they have the capability to return to sender all email (other than spam) sent to a closed account?

Thanks for any info.
