Somehow a website that I use is able to obtain some piece of informaiton on my pc that allows it to recognize my pc even when I use it with a differnet IP and ISP. From my knoledge, websites are only able to track IP, ISP, OS, and browser but clearly there is something else that is pc specific. Anyone have an idea as to how they do this and what information they use to ID a machine? Thank you!!!

what information exactly are they collecting?

EDIT: I think mac addresses are pc specific.

Try posting this on the networks/etc forum.

Yes, the MAC address of a machine is specific only to that machine. That is how we have our wireless network secured, by only allowing certain MAC addresses into it.
