My friend had someone set a website up for him that streams his music so that all of his friends can listen to music from his home server so he doesn't have to keep burning cds for us. now, the way this is set up doesn't allow for downloading from the site, as the site is hosted on a remote server, and the music is streaming from his home server. is there any way to derive the source url from the streaming site so i can download it from his home server?

Yes. Google Replay AV. It isn't free but it can capture almost any streaming media. I think they offer a free trial or something. I bought the full version. Works like a charm for what I want.
