I'm hoping someone knowledgable in server technology can shed some light on an indefinite issue.
We currently run a network which serves numerous largish podcasts RSS and downloadable MP3 files and there have been a significant number of complaints from subscribers who are experiencing issues with partial downloads on these downloadable files.
Heres what we know (or don't know):
1. we're yet to determine if the issue is server side or client side
2. the problem is inconsistant, some users experience a partial download on a particular file while others are able to download the same file - entirely
3. for those experiencing the issue, it fails with itunes RSS aggregator and by directly downloading the file as an mp3 from the blog post
here are our server configuration specs:
* linux server with redhat ES3
* 3ghz Dual Xeon processor
* 4 gb ram
* scssi hdd x 3 x 75 gb
* firewalled (hardware)
* Wordpress 2.0.1
If anyone can enlighted us or throw us suggestions on this problem that may set us on a firm path it would be greatly appreciated, at the moment there is so much abiguity, its like looking for a needle in a haystack.
