i have a modem and router, how do i know if i have cable or not, or i no is i have unlimited hrs and downloads

Nah thats too fast for 56k. I think he might have ISDN or a lowlevel package of DSL or Cable. Find out what connection speed you SHOULD be recieving and we can go from there

It all depends on what you are paying. For instance lets use my set up. I pay for 3mbps speeds and they guaranttee that I should not drop below 2mbps. So the whole time im in between those two marks they are providing what they paid for. They are not obligated all of a suddent to lets say provide me with a 5mbps service when I'm not paying for it.

I think that you are probably paying for a 256kbps connection and in which case really the only way to get faster would be to pay more. But, If you think you are paying for a higher service (lets say 512mbps or 1mbps+) you should call your provider and discuss with them why your download speed is so slow and they will walk you through fixing it.

I dont think hes running at a 256Kbps because look at the diagnonis it says that hes running ant only 14.73% of the hosts average, so hes probably has a 1.5Mbps Connection
