PC Hanging while viewing message boards.

I was just wondering if any of you know what may be happening to me.

It's happening while I'm browsing most message boards and SOMETIMES when I'm not doing anything at all.

I recently (in the last few weeks) upgraded my ram by adding another 1024mb chip (to give a total of 1024 + 256) and I've had no problems with it.

I think the hanging started after I downloaded AVG Anti-Virus to test if it was any good (I've decided not to renew Norton) or maybe just slightly before.

I don't think I've got restore enabled.

SPECS:

AMD 2400+ XP-M Processor
256MB STANDARD DDR333MHz PC2700 SDRAM
1024MB DDR333MHz PC2700 SDRAM (Totals to 1.18GB RAM)

well you could start off by removing avg. it most likley is running in the background slowing your computer down a bit.

i would go to run command and type msconfig and see how many programs you got running at startup.

go to control panel, system, system restore and see if its enabled

My computer does the same thing....at random times though, but mostly on message boards. The cursor just locks or dissappears altogether and I have to hit the reset button on the tower. I have to admit that it's not as bad as it was but still fustrating when it does.
