opera for free

does anybody know why the Opera web browser company decided to give their software out for free?

We all wish MS would lower their price, but then we have adobe releasing a photo editting product for over $200 while others are sitting at $20-60.

The only way MS would become free is if all of their employee's were multi-millionaires and were taken to court to lower their company's line of products .
