Hello,

I have just moved into a new living situation and I am having a odd issue.

I can not connect to the facebook server.
ping through cmd just gives me a request timed out and 100% packet loss.
I've tried configuring an opendns and that didn't change a thing.
Flushed the DNS settings and no luck either.

I have no problem with any other sites besides facebook.

I'm not a network guy so I'm kind of stumped.
I was able to get basic scripts to show up using a 3rd party proxy online, but that is about it.

Any ideas?

Can you ping the IP and get any replies? Maybe you're having a DNS issue if you can ping the IP (or even navigate to FB via the IP in a browser).

No luck there either, I tried safe mode in firefox as well with the address (www.facbeook.com) and the ip (69.171.228.74).

I disabled AVG free and windows firewall and no change. The wireless network I am on is new to me so there may be an issue there.

So far my only work around is to use a free online proxy that allows cookies.

This has to be something specific, the internet is roadrunner through time warner. Maybe I need to config my own ip addresses?

Can you get to it through a proxy? If facebook is blocked in the hosts file, be sure to either clear your dns cache or restart after changing it.
