No dial tone

a customer is having a problem, she is getting a no dial tone message when she tries to connect to the internet. she connected when she got it back from us for like an hour, then it kicked her off and wouldn't let her back on. do you have any idea what is causing this? maybe a i virus? or what

Have her reboot,sometimes the modem forgets to hang-up.If that doesn't work check to see if the actual phone line works.

also ensure that the area code is configured properly for her area as well, also which ISP is it? hopefully not AOL or I will start shedding my skin...

the ISP is the ISP i work for. everything is configured right.

well if she connected for an hour the modem had to be good at sometime, best way to to verify if its a problem with the phone cable, or perhaps the snap broke and it fell out
