My own cloud. How do I do it?

I hope this was the right place to post. I recently purchased a domain and set up a website using Squarespace for professional reasons and my time so far with them has been great! I was wondering if there was a way to also use this website that I have to my advantage. Basically what I want is to be able to have my own iCloud or Dropbox. If I have, say a 5TB external hard drive at my house that is constantly plugged into a computer, is there a way to set up a backdoor webpage I could access on my website to grab files on to go? My main though with this is that I'm a editor and would love a way to be able to grab different music files, sound effects, or full edits off my personal storage without the hassle of carrying around a external drive (Which is something I currently do). Does this, or anything similar to this sound possible without spending a ton of money?

Just to let you know owncloud has to be installed on linux

Nope - I have it running on my Windows Server 2008 R2 box under IIS :).

Edit: looks like they dropped support on v8, looking at the documentation now. If you have pre-v8, it should work.
