Are there reasons to not sign up for services like MSN or AOL?

yes they both suck and you don't need them to surf them web.

they make it sound like you can only get email and surf the web with them, but internet life is so much better without them.

you want to surf? try firefox or opera

want to send email? try outlook express or thunderbird

want to chat? try yahoo or msn chat programs.

all msn and aol will do is slow down your computer crap you don't need and fill your email with junk mail.

AOL is the bane of my exsitence here at work.

AS far as MSN its not bad but why get either if you have broadband or dsl.
