One of my friend's is obsessed with a TV show...and asked me a few questions of which I didn't know:

What are the legalities of making a "fan site"? For example...
-taking screenshots of the show,
-describing plot/analyzing the story (in depth)
-taking clips of the show <--is the main one.

I'm pretty sure the second is just fine in all aspects, but the 1st/3rd, does anyone know about that? He wants to describe some parts of the show and have a picture with it, or sometimes a clip. I mean, I know it's not allowed to put the whole show up there, but are clips/pictures allowed? And if you know that, do you know how long the clips can be?

Hope that makes sense...
thanks :D

:edit:
I wrote them asking directly, and the email bounced...what quality :p

u can mention in the end, that material is copyright of blah blah TV show, whatever.

That's not legally correct Blind_Arrow.

Xula these might help your friend. Sometimes the official website will have a download pack for people who want to make fan sites. If you tell me the show's name maybe I can help you search for more specific info.

Cool, thanks.

I don't know the exact show beyond it's some type of wrestling (sp?), WWE or something, not quite up on that stuff ;)

The first site said
- Recording sound from your favorite television show and posting them to your web site. Again, not legal.
was as close as they said--but then again, I'd be using a clip, so I'm not sure. I guess the best thing is just to write them (trying to again, hopefully it won't bounce again :D)

Thanks for the help!
