JAVA Problem

ok never do a fresh install, caused me so much grief.. annnyway

hoping this is an easy one.

recently fresh installed.

upon trying to log into one of the digichat room I get a quick pop up flash on screen then no chat applet loads.

running win xp pro
with Norton Int sec 2005

had this error before-->
Exception in thread "Thread-5" java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError

anyone got their head round this one before willing to help
or anyone with suggestions greatly welcomed

ps also using Java 2 platform standard ed' v.1.5

Do you have your browser set to use the Sun JRE rather than MSJava?

In IE go into tools -> advanced. Look under the java settings and make sure "Use JRE 1.5.0 etc" is checked.

in broswer (IE6 SP2) tools --> internet options --> advanced

heading of Javasun.. use JRE applet is ticked (though it keeps on having (requires restart) after it, restarted about 5 times

Seems the new reason it wont load the applet is

whats the console window tell you? should be in system tray or menu bar.

sounds like it doesnt know who to connect to. the client app won't be able to run if its not connected to the servlet.

Any ideas how to sort its head on in that repect, got other machine working but this ones being a pain.. any advice / links welcomed.

This is getting really annoying now,

NO ONE seem to know a fix for this. Closest I came is someone talking about PCS on a LAN, client machines can access no prob but main connection PC to the net cant, didnt mention a work around, but ive had both of them up before now.

SOMEONE must know whats going on here, tried installing netscape (as per bad advicefor solve) but that didnt work either
