How would i know website is legit?

I was wondering how would i know the site is legit and wont take my money. Im looking for a new urn for my dad and i found couple of these sites from google but not sure if there are legit sites or just fake sites that just takes away your money. Would anyone know how to check for thoughs things so i wont be ripped off???

IE 7 phising filter checks for non ligit sites, If they are not in your country i wouldnt buy from them unless they were a well known company eg dell as you may have problems returning it if it was not what you wanted or was the wrong item

generally a legit site would have a certificate from verisign
