I am in Southern Nevada, looking for a better ISP. My parents bought Cox.net high speed and are paying I think $80/mo. for basic cable TV + cable internet. I don't know how much they are paying for the individual services but I think they are overpaying for the service we are getting. My guess is that the internet is half or more of that bill. According to Speakeasy, the connection is 2272 kbps down and 489 kbps up. That's through a router though, which is located downstairs and I'm upstairs directly above it. I do not know if this effects the speed much.
I was looking into Verizon FiOS. It sounded wonderful until I found out it's not available in Nevada.
Does anybody know any good, cheaper ISPs in southern Nevada, or a website to compare high speed ISPs? Any help is appreciated.
