Following with the worldwide privacy issues, I'd rather not enter my phone number to Google's databases. Is there a way to go around giving them my phone number?

If it's for your email account, google will use this for it's two factor authentication, They send you a text in addition to the rest of your account info you give them to prove you are who you say you are. If you ever forget your password....you'll really wish that you gave google that number because it's a real pia if you don't. I've seen people get new pc's and google will lock them out unless they can do the 2FA thing with a text, because google does not recognize (no cookies/validation) the new pc. It's how most security things are done today... well except this forum. Other forums do use 2FA on a voluntary basis
