You know when you are downloading a file there is a window that pops up and ask you how you want to open the file? Then there is a box that you can click that says "do this from now on with these types of files". Well that seems to never really work. It always prompts me on how I wish to open it.

Does any one know how to fix this?

Tools > Options > Main tab. Click the button for "Save files to..." and browse to where you want them saved. Click OK.

No that isn't what I mean. When you are downloading a file that is associated with a program, typically it knows what program you want to open the file with, and there is a option to select to open these types of files from now on with that program and not to prompt for it next time. For example a .rar file or a photoshop file, it will know to open it there and will prompt me but there is a box I can check to open it from now on with out being prompted. It always prompts me even if I have the box clicked previously.
