firefox???

I have been Using Mozilla Firefoz 1.5 for quite sometime.

Untill recently all the plugins and the extensions I used to download used to work very fine.

But now when I try to download the new pluggins and extensions, it would simply not download!!!

I tried changing the settings by going to

"Tools>Extensions> get new updates"

After linking to the mozilla addons web site,Try clicking on the installer, but it would not download.
So i RIght clicked "Save Link as" and downloaded the pluggin. Following it, I try to install the pluggin, but it does not work.

I also tried by

"Tools>Options> Contents> Warn me if when websites try and install new themes"

Both of the above said ways did not work for me.

I re-installed Firefox and tried but it was futile.

Could someone kindly revert back to me as to what could the problem be?

Try using the extension called "Nightly Tester Tools". It can force an extension to work with your current version of FF, even if the extension wasn't built for it.

but i cannot detect ne new extensions....

Can't detect them? That's a new one on me.

My friend had that happen...we didn't try to troubleshoot it, but instead just downloaded the latest version. Backed up his bookmarks (default is something like C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\bookmarks.html)...wiped the App. Data folder as well as the C:/Program Files/Firefox/ folder...and reinstalled. It worked perfect after that (or I haven't heard otherwise, yet!)

Though that's a big hassle...
