false cookies?

I was looking through my cookies today and noticed that there were some sites that I haven't visited. Mostly just porn type sites. I have no idea hows these got there. Any explanation? Possibly spyware or anything maybe? Please help so I may prevent this in the future.

A banner ad that came up may have been based on a website related to porn.

Things can get out of hand on the internet; dont worry about the cookies you receive. If you're worried, just delete them.

I use the CookieCuller extension in Firefox to help control which cookies get deleted.

It let's you protect the cookies you want to keep, so you can delete cookies through it and not worry about the important ones (like your login here).

okay thanks. the problem is that the cookies were modified after I had already went to sleep and also I go to pretty much all the same web sites on my girlfriend's computer and it doesn't have these bad cookies. therefore I don't think it's from an ad banner. how is this possible?

(sorry the post was so terrible and incomprehensive the first try, was on the phone while typing and couldn't type too well)
