I'm trying to block this site, I used the host file I used (127.0.0.1 facebook.com) is there different variations I have to type this because people are still getting onto this site. I heard about blocking it through the router but have no idea how, any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Which router?

With mine, I can block it via the address, facebook.com.

What Router do you have?

You didnt add WildCards to your Host files. Cause not everything done on Facebook is done with the facebook.com address. There is touch.facebook.com and so on. So you need to block them all like so:

127.0.0.1 *.facebook.*
127.0.0.1 *.myspace.*

For me i just go into my Router, go under my Advanced Settings and there is a control for Website Filter. I type in *.facebook.* in there and blam the site is gone from my network.

Thanks will try it this afternoon because they are not there but from memory I think its a Linksys e1000 wireless router

So i can type (127.0.0.1 *.facebook.*) in the host file and then *.facebook.* for the router?

No point in doing both. If the router has the functionality it hardly makes sense to go round each PC blocking the same sites.
