Download Internet Explorer 9 Preview

Microsoft has released many new information about their upcoming Internet Explorer 9 web browser. Even better than the information that they have showcased at the Mix10 conference is the release of a Internet Explorer 9 preview release which they call Internet Explorer Platform Preview.
The Internet Explorer Platform Preview offers an early look at some of the features that Microsoft plans to integrate into Internet Explorer 9. The preview version will only run on 32-bit or 64-bit editions of Windows Vista SP2 or later or Windows 7. Vista users also need to have Internet Explorer 8 and DirectX 2D installed before they can install the platform preview.
They can download Internet Explorer 8 here and DirectX 2D by visiting this Platform Update page.

anyone know the big changes?

Microsoft's Internet Explorer 9 Browser: FAQ - Yahoo! News

What's New in Internet Explorer 9?

Microsoft is touting IE's speedy performance and its much-improved support for Web standards. The browser's strongest attribute is likely its adherence to HTML5, the major revision of Web's core markup language that's still under development. HTML5 will allow IE9 (and other browsers) to move beyond resource hogging browser plug-ins, like the ubiquitous Adobe Flash, to display multimedia content online. Toss in better CSS 3 support (to help Web designers created the right look for their sites) and an improved JavaScript engine (to the crank up the speed of Web apps), and IE9 promises to be a more nimble browser that eschews the slow, lumbering Internet Explorer versions of the past.

No IE9 Windows XP Users

According to this article, Internet Explorer 9 will not work on Windows XP. I'm not sure how many people using Windows XP will even care but there you have it, no IE9 soup for you.

"Building a modern browser requires a modern operating system," Internet Explorer General Manager Dean Hachamovitch said at a press conference at the Mix10 event.

still use xp at the office. yay for buying downgrade rights.
