connect but no browser activity

i'm on dial-up normally, right now i'm on dsl and the problem persists:
my computer connects to the internet. albeit, the only program that actually makes use of this connection is my p2p file sharing program. my browsers send and receive no data. my instant messengers do the same, and can't connect. periodically, though, these programs do work , and i'll be able to access websites, or connect to AIM. suddenly, it will be cut off and again, only kazaa works.

Remove Kazaa...It Installs Spyware With It.
Update Your Anti-Virus.

i just ran a full system scan with the newest virus definitions and i'm using kazaa lite.
