Cant access web sites

Hi, i am unable to access websites on both IE and firefox
the pc running xp is connected to the router with the correct ip and will have the ISP ip address if connected directly, a ps3 connected works fine
I have tried:
winsock netsh reset
flushdns command
done full virus/spyware scan with avg 8
removed unwanted programs
tried it without firewall and anti virus
system restores are failing
Anything else i could try without having to reinstall windows

Why yes!

Assuming that you have a Windows install disk, pop that sucker in and open up a Command Prompt. Type the following:

[B]sfc /scannow[/B]

It will probably take a couple hours. Basically what this does is compare every System File and Checks them against the original install.

This will leave your installed programs alone as well as user settings. It basically overhauls/resets the OS.
