hi all, new to this forum...

got an interesting question...

i am applying for a government job in the near future, where they will probably check my computer, ip address and anything else they can as it relates to my internet history.

i am a guy, like most, and have had my share of surfing porn.

my questions:

1. is it possible for them to go back and see sites that i have visited in the past, and if so, how far back?

2. would they get this from my server, or is it stored elsewhere?

3. i have window washer 5 that overwrites anything that i delete. is this good enough for deleted jpeg's, or should i use something different.

any other info is appreciated...
thanks for your time

1. Not sure. My ISP saves all customer data for one year, they did not mention WHAT exactly they are saving. I asked them, they didn't respond. Maybe you should read about Echelon also. (google)

2. Not sure.

3. Overwrite 7-12 times and you will be save. (I think)

1. TheMajor makes a good point here. The history is not only stored on the computer, but also on the ISP. #3 also answers this one for the stuff stored on the computer.

2. It depends on how the network that you're on is set up. If you have a roaming profile (where you can go to different computers and log on with all of the same settings for all of the computers) then your internet history, cookies, and temporary internet files are probably stored on your server. If not, then they will be stored on your computer.

3. If you can overwrite those jpegs enough times, then they shouldn't be recoverable,

How can the ISP allow the government to see its customer details. Isnt that against the policy to protect privacy of their customers?

codes:)
