Microsoft has now launched a new initiative in an attempt to encourage users to upgrade to Internet Explorer 8, titled “Browser for the Better.” The Redmond company promises that “for every download of Windows Internet Explorer 8 from this site, we will continue to donate 8 meals to Feeding America,” and has the statement “1 in 8 Americans struggle to have enough to eat” displayed across the top of the site in big, block letters. The idea is a wonderful one, and it would be great if Microsoft showed a download counter or something else similar, such as meals donated, in order to show the full effect of the promotion.

It's a good idea if they are telling the truth. I'm a supporter of Firefox, but I downloaded explorer 8 after reading this. I can hardly afford to eat with the rising cost of everything.
