Hello everyone,

I am wondering if I can block porn websites from being
viewed using the Internet Explorer settings.

I don't know why but recently, porn websites began
to pop out of nowhere. Is this some kind of spyware
or adware.

I hope someone can help out.

Thank you.

Yeah, use Ad-aware and scan your computer-- http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ (link also in my profile)...is what it most likely is. There's no way to just 'block' the web sites within IE, though you can do some tedious work by using the internet security settings (not recommended by me!)...I'd just try ad-aware, since it's free...should solve most of your problems :)

Ad-ware can't solve everything.
I have to use some software: Ad-aware SE, Spybot - Search & Destroy and Hijackthis.
And yes, agree with Pavlyk google toolbar is worth download though many people don't like it.

No it can't solve everything, but if you don't use any ad remover, as it sounds like he doesn't, it goes a long way :)

Personally, I wouldn't suggest the Google toolbar, I just hate those things ;) There are tons of free blockers on the 'net, including Internet Explorer--if you upgrade Windows XP to service pack 2, it includes one. Not sure how well it works....but it has one. As do most other browsers, firefox/opra etc.

:)

Go to start, run, type msconfig. Go to the startup tab, disable all, then reboot. Once rebooted, run Spy-Bot Search and Destroy 1.4 Beta and Ad-Aware SE Personal free from www.download.com. Run these programs about 5 to 6 times in a row. Remove and delete all entries they find. Go to your add/remove and remove all software that you did not install on your system such as xxxtoolbar, Gator, Bonsii Buddy, Wintools, etc. Some wont let you delete them. But just hold on. If it won't let you, that's ok. Go ahead and reboot. Now go to your C: drive, then program files. Be careful in here. So lets says you have Wintools installed. You look for the folder called Wintools. You try to delete it and it won't let you. So now go to your taskbar, right click it, then click task manager, go to the processes tab, click on image name which puts the processes in alpha. order, scroll to the bottom. There should be two processes running called something like wintools.exe Right click on them and click End process tree. Now quickly go back to the folder and delete it. If it still won't let you, go into the folder, and start deleting each folder and file one by one, the folders or files that don't delete, just go to the next one. After that, go back and rename the files to whatever, it doesn't matter what. The file image should change. Try to delete it now. If that don't work, reboot, and then try to delete it again. Make sure the process is not runnng when you reboot, if it is, kill it again. You may need to run the adaware programs once again. Do this for all programs that are spyware/adaware. Then go to the C: drive, Then windows, then search for the folder called "prefetch" Delete this folder, don't worry, nothing will happen. Let us know if all this works. If this don't work, reboot and go into safe mode and stay off the net while doing all this.
