"Total posts" not increasing?

My post count doesn't go up every time i post. Is this normal?

I'm not over-bothered about it, but it would be nice to get my post count up!

Posts in "Off Topic" don't count toward your post total.

Your total post count can be found on the "search" button.

It might also take a little bit for your post count to catch up with you if you've been going though the pages real quick.
