Verizon or Earthlink?

Which one is better and cheaper? I went on Earthlink's website; it said it goes at 6 mbps (but i think this might be the cable version and not DSL; seems too high for DSL); I think my Verizon is only 3 mbps. But I don't know much about Earthlink; could someone give me a brief pro and con?

earthlink is a cable reseller.
in new york,isn't that Comcast?it is probably upto 6mbps.
i would check to see if you can get verizon fios.

how's fios? I just know it's fiberoptics and supposed to be faster but other than that, I dunno.
