how to add a Access point to excisting wifi network?

So I have att, they set up an Arris modem /router. However, I don't get a good wifi single. So I bought a netgear R6300 to add as an access point. After I changes the setting to the netgear I do not know how to add it. Can someone help me with this?

So you properly setup/configured the R6300 to be an Access Point rather than a router? Make sure DHCP is disabled firstly.

As for connecting it....just hook it up via ethernet into one one of the ports to your Arris, and to one of the ports on the R6300.

....And give it the same SSID and password as the primary wifi device.
