FCC Votes 3-2 to Force Comcast to Open Internet Access

We told you last week that it was expected that the FCC would vote to punish Comcast. On Friday, the final vote came down and it was 3-2 in favor to enforce a policy that guarantees customers open access to the Internet. Too bad - so sad, Comcast.

The commission did not assess a fine, but ordered the company to stop cutting off transfers of large data files among customers who use a special type of "file-sharing" software.

This is great news. Glad to see the FCC is going to stop ISP's from blocking BitTorrent since it is not illegal to use. If these people are trying to get a Linux Distro is is far better to get it via BitTorrent as you will get the full ISO everytime.

Now lets see if the rest of America's ISP's follow suit after this. Since many have talked of throttling BitTorrent downloads.

I think the FCC should FORCE all Backbone providers to upgrade their networks in relation to the number of Clients it servicing. Time to start laying fiber and moving into the future of real data transfer and on the fly services for which they are trying to cripple.
