The most effective ways to get backlinks in my opinion are:
- Article distribution
- General directories and theme-specific (niche) directories
- Exchanging links with quality sites
- Posting in forums
But keep in mind, striving for "natural" links is good. By this I mean you create such a great and helpful website that people will link to you.
