Using photoshop to remove error in photograph

hi, i have a picture which needs to remove an error in it. its piece of thread against a grey background.

i need to remove the little grey thread.

can i do it using photoshop?

if so how can i do it?

step by step instructions will help as i am not knowledgable about photoshop.

Just use the paint brush and paint over the thread. Can even be done in paint.

If the grey background is patterned, and you can't use a solid color to get rid of it, you can always use the Clone Stamp tool.

Yep cloner tool is the way to go.

I would agree. But without knowing if the background has a pattern the clone tool might not be needed. If it is just a simple grey background just using the paint brush would work as well.
