What I would like to do is offer users the ability to build there own web page. You know like freewebs and SynthaSite, they are just a few. I have a memorial site I made when we lost our son and I want to [for free] allow parents to make a page for their child, something like Domain Names, Shared Web Hosting and Site Design Tools - MyDomain or Domain Name Registration, E-mail, Web Hosting. I have enough space I just don't know whatserver side software I might need.
Any thoughts or suggestion would be appreciated.

Well, it's what you asked for.

You said you want to type yoursite.com/childname or childname.yoursite.com and have it go to that child's page, yes? You can do that with mod_rewrite.
