printing query

I have just put together a booklet for friend, the cover is lilac. My hp deskjet produces the cover as white. All the other graphics are ok, just the 'fill' colour of the title page. I stumbled across the remedy some time ago but I've forgotten.

What software package are you using to edit the publication?
Also if you could take a few screens that would be great
