My guess is that its simple digital video editing.

First you shoot the video with the frames and placement.
Then when editing the video on your computer, you would take freeze-frames of whatever image was showing in the picture frames and create some sort of mapping that keeps the chosen image on the frame. Sounds simple, but I'm sure you would need certain software and the ability to use it.

In that video, I could see a few errors with the images, but still impressive. I also noticed that the guy always paused when he was either putting a frame over his head, or removing a frame from his head. I'm sure there was some editing done there. Looks like it was a good remedy for boredom :p

lol, no, more like Adobe After effects. I would bet that it's not that hard to recreate such a commercial.
