Calendar Web Application or help with bedework

I have been having a hard time installing Bedework if anyone is familiar with this installation process i would greatly appreciate some help.

If you have no clue what bedework is then I am looking for suggestions on good web calendar software, Preferably free, that allows individual users to keep their own records as well as a public calendar and a calendar for different departments.
