bmp problem

Here is my problem:

I can save gif/jpgs off of ebay and other places but when the picture comes from a site with a username in the address I can ONLY save the picture as a bmp even if it exists in another form on the website.

The solution they suggest is that I upgrade to IE 5.5 SP1.
I currently have IE 6 on Windows XP


Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this problem?

u can change picture formats in Paint anytime, and why do you have to specify the URL for embedding picture in web page (dont you have your own web host)?

assuming that this you are doing for linking images on pages u built, then why bother saving them, if yu are saving them to re-use, then u can use any other browser, as if its saving as BMP in IE.
