Any other cheap programs like photoshop?

ok i was using my friends photoshop CS2 and when i seen the price i said "**** this". so im looking for something exactly like/very close to photoshop, or maybe an older cheaper version of photoshop.

i alread have Jasc Paintshop Pro 9, can anyone tell me how this compares to Cs2?

Supposedly, Gimp is very closely related to photoshop. I've never experienced it, but Its a free alternative that alot of people choose.

Photoshop is basically the best image program out there, i recommend buying it.

PLEASE don't use the microsoft image suite, its a memory guzzler, even with 1GB ram...

i would buy photoshop, but i dont do any professinal imaging, and i can think of 100 different ways to spend $500

Photoshop Elements 4 is a cut down version of Photoshop.

Photoplus 6 is free.

I have also heard great things about gimp. I've seen some screenshots, and it looks very similar to photoshop. You can download it from this url. http://www.gimp.org/

You can download a free 30 day trial of photoshop if you want. But after that....you have to pay.

Try out gimp for a free editing program, i didnt really like it though.
