Terminal closes- Tiger

I'm running Mac OS X tiger and I am pretty new to the mac operating system -- I can get around but I am not that efficient with it.

My problem is with my terminal. When I try to open it, the window just closes and I can never get the terminal to stay open. I believe on this laptop the terminal actually worked for me at one point, but after using xcode a little bit, and maybe changing settings that I didn't realize, i get the problem I have now.

Anyone have any ideas?

Try repairing your disk permissions and see if this makes any difference.

Go To
Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility
Select your startup disk and click "Verify Permissions"
Once it finishes, click on "Repair Permissions"
Then restart your computer.

If this does not solve it, you may need to get a little more in depth with your troubleshooting. I can't really give you instructions off the top of my head, but if you do end up needing more help, just let us know and I'll bother to do some troubleshooting research.

Yah, that didn't work. I've been looking around in help and through the preferences/ settings and I still can't seem to find anything.
