What he did is perfectly legal, and any court that isn't in Apple's or AT&Ts pockets would judge in this kids favor. Heck he should be given a full ride to MIT, not a lawsuit. We need more people like him in this world.

im sure its fine for this kid to unlock the iPhone and its all legal bla bla, but what about the company? surely they cant do anything with this unlocked phone without apples permission? and if they did have the permission, then im sure apple would have just sold them the iphones and told them how to unlock them, or unlocked the iphones for no extra fee. all i could see from this is that they could possibly make a purchasable guide on how to unlock them or something. its hardly top confidential stuff theyre handling. im sure apple would be plenty happy to start a contract with them.

The iPhone was locked to only work with AT&T's network because of Apple and AT&T's contract. Now the hacked or unlocked phone can work with any other GSM carrier. Any more news on if this kid is getting sued or not? like a link or something? I'll bet you AT&T is suing them, cause they are the only company getting the bad end of the deal.
