The guy sitting next to me here at work is complaining that it seems like his computer has slowed down significantly in the past week or two... saying that it is freezing up and or giving him the "spinning colorwheel of doom" for extended periods of time... thus significantly slowing down his workflow.

He is working with Photoshop CS2 on a dual 2.0gHz G5, 2gb RAM, and I'm not sure about the harddrive. He says that the harddrive is probably not too full as all work is saved on a shared drive in a server... not on the actual desktop that he is working on. He thinks it might have something to do with the fonts that he is using... but I don't know.

Anyone have any ideas of what would be causing this?

Make sure he's not using FileVault or secure virtual memory.

Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Security and make sure "use secure virtual memory" is unchecked.

That made my Macbook Pro SOOOOOOOO SLOW.
