Recovery of purchased iTunes music

My sister has an old generation apple ipod that she bought about eight months ago. Just recently I had to reformat her computer and reinstall Windows XP Pro for her. Well I remembered to backup all of her files except for her music collection. The problem is that most of the music she had was purchased through iTunes. The music is also on her ipod, but I'm not sure how to safely transfer her music collection on her ipod back to her computer. Is this possible, and if so how can I transfer a copy of her music safely from her ipod to her comoputer?

See if you can pull them off the iPod with Yamipod. I've heard a great deal about this program but have yet to experiment with it.
