Raid 0 on a Mac???

Hello guys and gals
I recently got a Dual G5 that came with a 160GB SATA hard drive.
I had a 250 GB SATA laying around so i installed it.
Well now I want to RAID them but being new with Macs
I dont really know how. I have played with the disk utility
in OSX 10.4.1 and I added both drives, and made them both
Raid Stripped at the default strip size but the Create button
wont light up to let me do it. Am i doing something wrong?
And also if someone can anwser what I should do right, after
they are set in a Raid 0, will it prompt me to reinstall tiger?
Or should i just do it? Please help me out, ive newly conformed
from PCs being my main computer to Macs after using windows
for 12 years. OSX kills windows xp anyday.
I need the Raid 0 configuration for the video editing and stuff
that ill be doing on it in the next few months.
Also I know that the 250gb hard drive will turn into a 160
when I raid 0 them.
So if anyone can answer my questions that would rock.

By my knowledge, the drives have to both be reformatted and through the disk utility on the system software installer disk a RAID array can be created to your liking. The RAID must be set up before the OS is installed on the drives. Here are the steps that need to be taken:

1. Insert disk
2. Restart the computer holding down 'c'. This will boot to the disk instead of the normal boot drive.
3. The disk's UI should appear. Go through all the steps until you get to the beginning of the software install. Do not install yet. Go up to the menu bar and find "disk utility". Here you can do both your reformat and your RAID step up, but be sure to format then create and not the other way around.
4. After the disks are wiped and the RAID is created, install the system software.

Please note that whatever you have on there now (which probably isnt much) should be backed up prior to doing any of this.
