Problem with Apple mail

I have a MAc - version 10.4.11 and Apple mail version 2.13. I have over 6000 messages and I cannot see them anymore in the Viewer. I know they are there because the number of files is still posted and I can search and "find" the messages. I was thinking that my kids turned some weird option on but I cannot figure it out. I did try re-indexing and that did not work. Thanks

Are you trying to say you can't see any of the messages in your Inbox, but if you do a search they'll show up?
Could you post up a screenshot of the problem? Hit Command Shift and 4, then release them and tap the spacebar. Click on the mail window and it'll take a screenshot of just that and post it to the desktop.
